On Mother’s Day, ORTV and Heavenly Melody launched a new micro-movie, Heart’s Pursuit, and an accompanying social media campaign encouraging Christians to pray for, thank, and spend time with their mothers. The micro-movie, starring actors Lan Juntian, Pan Yiru and Huang Chengyi, is about an estranged mother and daughter whose lives fall apart after the death of the father in a car accident, and how God’s love leads to healing and restoration of their relationship.
It is our great hope that this micro-movie will help fractured families heal and remind many that God’s love can bring reconciliation and healing to broken families.
ORTV CEO and Heavenly Melody Director Daniel Hsieh shared about the two most important women in his life–his mother and Dr. Doris Brougham. He left home at a young age to study abroad. When he became an adult, due to serving in Heavenly Melody, he spent much time going on singing tours around the world and did not have much time to spend with his mother. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Heavenly Melody could not tour internationally for two years. During this time, he was able to spend more time with his mother, eat together, talk, and travel with her. He is so thankful God gave him this opportunity. The other important woman in his life, Dr. Doris Brougham, is a mother and grandmother to many people, including himself. Hsieh stated: “I am very grateful for Doris, who often encourages me with words of affirmation, encourages me to respond to God’s call, to be salt and light in this generation, to influence others toward good, to take steps of faith, and to spread the Gospel around the world.” Hsieh continued: “I hope everyone will express their love and gratitude to their mothers via actions.”
Heavenly Melody Deputy Director Mei Wang has personally experienced the healing and family reconciliation that the micro-movie depicts. Wang shared that when she was a child, she grew up in a family with domestic violence. This led her to suppress her emotions for many years. She also suffered from depression, severe dry eye syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux and autonomic nervous system disorders. She was unable to forgive her father for many years. When Wang spent much time re-discovering God’s love through Bible study, meditation, and prayer, she restored her personal relationship with God. Her heart softened, and she was able to forgive her father before his death and restore their relationship. Wang stated: “The story in this micro-movie reflects society today. There are many family problems and broken family relationships. In our birth families, many of us experience many hurts, all which have their roots in humans’ sinful nature. But when we restore our relationship with God, we are willing to forgive, and God’s love can heal and restore what is broken.
