On April 18, Heavenly Melody conducted a voice training class with award-winning voice coach Wei Shifen for 30 pastors and pastoral staff from churches around Taiwan at ORTV’s Taipei headquarters. The purpose was to help pastors learn how to use their voices better to combat common problems for preachers such as vocal cord fatigue and voice disorders. The class included daily voice maintenance strategies, vocal expression of emotions, and included customized, one-on-one exercises.
ORTV Founder Dr. Doris Brougham encouraged the pastors: “We need to have more churches work together as there are still many people who have never heard the Gospel. We need to work together to spread the Gospel faster and more effectively.” ORTV Chairman Dr. Simon Hung continued: “We are gathered here today due to God’s love. I hope ORTV can continue to work closely with churches. All the pastors here are great speakers, yet they are humble to come here to learn more. The more you learn, the more you can serve the Lord.”
ORTV CEO and Heavenly Melody Director Daniel Hsieh shared that as many pastors push their voices hard while preaching, they often lose their voices afterwards. He explained: “When Heavenly Melody was preparing to debut our musical The Journey of Love, Ms. Wei was our voice coach and gave us much useful professional guidance on how to use our voices better. She was a superb coach and has coached many leading singers and actors. Thus, we invited Ms. Wei to help pastors use their voices more effectively.”
Heavenly Melody Deputy Director Mei Wang shared that Heavenly Melody organized its first music camp last year and will hold another music camp this August. Heavenly Melody also has many one-on-one training classes and can go to churches to help train worship teams. We look forward to holding more useful classes for pastors and worship leaders in the future.
